Team, we should be keeping it sweet all year round – but February 14 is a nice reminder (and as good a day as any). Valentine’s Day specials aren’t always pathetic and Hallmark-y – here are four excellent things to get around with someone you love.
Cherry-topped Scorpino at Bar Planet, Enmore
You can win over anyone with the ever-changing slurpee-esque drink at Enmore’s house of Martinis – and this week’s Scorpino) is no different. The Bar Planet team is collaborating with cake creative Baked in Space on a fire-engine-red mix of sorbet, vodka and prosecco. The flavour’s vanilla and maraschino cherry, there’s cream-cheese foam on top as well as, naturally, a skewered cherry. This week only.
Date night delivery from Winona Wine, Sydney-wide
Sometimes the best thing to do is stay in. Let the legends at Winona Wine deliver the vibe straight to your door – same day, all over Sydney. The date night pack is the obvious choice: locally made pipette and a rich tomato sauce by pasta queen Elizabeth Hewson; cherry-specked dark chocolate; and a bottle of Forever Wine, the Winona x Worlds Apart shiraz collab. But you could opt for Sbagliatos, Martinis or the beer-and-chippies heavy Couch Kit, too.

SIGN UPFlo Dill at Ace Hotel, Surry Hills
Wanna get down on it this year? Head to the art-filled hotel bar to groove with your mates and lovers at Efficient Space’s lobby takeover with Flo Dill. The NTS Radio host won’t be sticking to one genre, but all selects will be straight from the heart. It’s worth noting that the excellent bar menu features a standout house Martini, lots of good wine, burgers and chips with Bloody Mary salt. From 6pm till late; it’s free entry, but RSVP recommended.
Panettone from Norma’s Deli, Manly
Panettone is one of the best things about Christmas, so this Valentine’s Day special from the northern beaches bakery is red-hot, in our eyes. Sour cherries and chocolate are mixed through a light, slightly sour dough; the Italian cake takes 72 hours to make from start to finish. It’s finished with a chocolate top. There are limited numbers to pick up in store, or order online till Sunday February 16.
