There’s a time and a place for bottomless brunch. The time’s usually a belter-worthy celebration, and the place should be one of these.

Bottomless brunches are often precursors to a pretty hefty hangover. There’s only so many too-sweet Mimosas a person can take. But, amid the fray, there are also those brunches that are a cut above the rest. They promise mezze and Margaritas, bao buns and prosecco, lychee spritzes and rice paper rolls – only the good things.

Any of these Sydney venues will sort you out next time you’re looking for a standout spot for a blowout.

Shaffa , Surry Hills

At this charmer in a 120-year-old church on Albion Street, the vibe’s angling for that of a Middle Eastern marketplace. And on Saturdays and Sundays, you can add one of three bottomless packages to the $79 set menu. Free-flowing beer or rose will cost you $19, or add Margs too for $28. Prefer it spicy? Bottomless red-hot Margs will cost you $38. The food is excellent: you’ll start with a bagel topped with masabacha (a hummus-like dip) and tomato before getting into eggplant labneh, a bright crudo, a bunch of veggies and a collection of charcoaled skewers. Coconut malabi and Turkish coffee to finish. It’ll be a standout 90 minutes on your weekend, and it’s available for bookings between midday and 2.30pm.
from $98 per person, bookings recommended.

Rocker , Bondi

There’s nothing this north Bondi favourite can’t do, and you can add Italian-style bottomless brunches, Thursday to Sunday, to the list. Expect free-flowing Mimosas, sparkling, beer or rose on offer (or opt for spritzes for an extra $15). It'll be a share-style feast, with burrata, antipasto and silky vodka rigatoni. Plus, book in on a Thursday or Friday during August to get 20 per cent off your bill. Rock on.
$85 per person, bookings required.

Rising Sun Workshop , Newtown

The inner-west noodle joint is ramping up Sundays with the Breakfast Ramen Club. Book a table for 90 minutes of never-ending kimchi-spiked Bloody Marys or bespoke Bosozoku Japanese lagers – made for Rising Sun by Young Henry’s – plus a piping-hot bowl of bacon-and-fried-onsen-egg-topped breakfast ramen, which boasts a pork broth thickened up with buttered toast. And a serve of crispy pork gyoza with chilli oil, too. Available on Sundays from 11am till 2pm.
$65 per person, bookings recommended.

Hello Auntie, Marrickville or Darling Square

Beef tartare topped with a welcome sprinkling of pickled onions, capers and anchovies. A dish of silky eggplant wontons with a yoghurt-y sauce for dipping. A DIY rice paper roll plate, laden with barbequed meats and crunchy veggies. At either of the Hello Auntie digs, it’s all of this plus a trio of fizzy fruity sips – like a lychee and ginger spritz – non-stop for two hours, every Saturday.
$80 per person, bookings recommended.

Cho Cho San , Potts Point

Free-flowing buns and bubbles. That’s what you’re in for on Saturdays at this fan-favourite Japanese stop. From midday till 3pm, it’ll be a banquet that starts with togarashi-doused edamame, miso eggplant and chicken karaage, that then courses through ocean trout, roast-duck bao buns and soy fried rice, before finishing with black sesame mochi. The drinks are as upstanding as the food – free-flowing bubbles, wines and beers, for just shy of two hours. Or, add $35 to upgrade to bottomless Margaritas, Yuzu Spritzes, Suika Highballs and Yuzu Negronis. Well played, Cho Cho.
$95 per person, bookings required.
