When Dine Out takes over Sydney this August, there’ll be something for everyone. One-off specials from Bills and Baba’s Place, Mapo and Good Ways. Plus, a hosted service at Neil Perry’s soon-to-open Italian restaurant, Wagyu set menus at Firepop and a big pub becoming a Creole tavern. One Newtown restaurant is touring India’s bakeries and a Darlo art gallery is hosting a pie-powered Sunday lunch.

But we want to party too. Here are five spots to get down – book tickets or add to your diary, stat.

PSGO drive in at Public House Petersham

PS40 co-owner Michael Chiem acquired a 1977 Bedford RV last year and turned it into a moving, shaking, cocktail-making machine. Now she’s ready to be wheeled out at events, festivals and celebrations. What better excuse to rev it up than the first-ever Dine Out festival?

Hit up Public House Petersham from 4pm on Saturday August 16 for a carpark party with some of the most inventive cocktails in the city. Plus, pizza specials. Toot, toot!

Walk-ins welcome, bookings recommended.

Studd Siblings cheese party in the Ace Hotel lobby

It’s widely accepted that Sam and Ellie Studd are the hottest siblings in the cheese world. Their dad, Will Studd, is Australia’s pre-eminent cheese expert. They’re partying in the Ace Hotel’s art-filled lobby, bringing everything from a cheese-themed drag queen to a 35-kilogram wheel of La Couronne Fort aged-comté emblazoned with their faces.

There’ll also be cheese-inspired cocktails, snacks aplenty and excellent vibes, from 6.30pm till midnight.
RSVP for the free party on Wednesday August 13.

Das Juice magnum party at Theeca

The little day-to-night Darlo eatery is teaming up with outstanding South Australian winery Das Juice for a wintry dinner party – with magnums of that natty juice. There’ll be DJs from 5pm too, and floral styling by 712 Museum, along with a menu of snacks (like flatbread with porcini butter and chilli butter king prawns) perfect for when you’re drinking.

Bookings essential for Friday August 15.

City Oltra pizza party at Bar Freda’s

Every night at the newest era of Freda’s feels like a house party, but – just for Dine Out – some of Sydney’s best pizza guys are ramping up the vibes with their Gozneys. The Oltra team will take over the downstairs courtyard at The Abercrombie, armed with plenty of pizza. Plus, Oltra’s Ben Fester is curating a mix of DJs, who’ll keep the party going till the wee hours.

Arrive before 10pm on Friday August 15 for free entry, or nab a $25 ticket (that includes a free slice) if you’re heading in later.

Kiln supper club

Ever been eating at Kiln, with that sparkling city view, and wished you could dance? Now you can. The Saturday-night supper club will have one of our best dining rooms cleared for a party. A line-up of DJs will be spinning till late, curated by Levins. Plus, local wines by Drnks and a one-off snacky menu: sliders! Saltbush-seasoned chippies! Trout roe-topped waffles!

Tickets for the party on Saturday August 16 are $25.

All tickets are available at dineout.broadsheet.com.au.
