Melbourne has a huge number of coffee roasters, from tiny one-person operations to giants who’ve shaped the national coffee conversation. Padre sits somewhere between those two poles. The brand has three cafes and a roastery in Melbourne, a cafe and roastery in Noosa, and 200 wholesale partners in Australia and overseas.
Now Padre has its sights set on NSW – and it’s pulling out all the stops with a sleek concept store at Paddington’s Five Ways.
”We were looking for the perfect site in the right suburb for a while” says Ben White, head of Padre Coffee NSW. “And I think where we’ve landed is such a good spot.”

SIGN UPPadre’s signature Lucky Boy and Daddy’s Girl espresso blends will be brewing alongside a range of single origin and filter blends. There’ll also be a retail section stocked with everything you need to lift your coffee game at home. “Home brewing equipment, merchandise, cups, crockery. The works,” says White.
But as well as being a place to do your daily ritual (with a pastry on the side), the store will double as a dedicated training and educational space for hospo professionals, hardcore coffee drinkers and everyone in between.
“No matter how much coffee knowledge you have, whether you’re just starting out or have been a barista for 10 years, we just want to be a space where people can come in,” says White.
The Paddington site will mark the first phase of Padre’s expansion in NSW, with plans to grow the brand’s presence throughout the state.
Padre Coffee will open at 241A–241B Glenmore Road, Paddington in June 2023.
