Helmed by Khan Danis and Catherine Adams (both formerly of Neil Perry's Rockpool empire), Cipro Pizza is the latest addition to Alexandria's burgeoning dining scene, joining Bread & Circus and Don Campos in the same refurbished warehouse space.

The kitchen is open and gleaming. The surrounding room is light and airy with high ceilings, walls lined with intricate black-and-white tiles and wooden shelves, which prop up pot plants and bottles of tomato sauce. Dark timber benches sit atop exposed concrete floors, with a scattering of black metal stools rounding out the seating options.

Despite the flashy interior, you'll have a hard time taking your eyes off the square wedges of pizza in the display case. The zucchini, ricotta and mint variety comes with mountains of fluffy, white ricotta, and is almost too pretty to eat. The pepperonata pizza is topped down by nubs of spicy chorizo. Other toppings of note include cheese, tomato and radicchio; pork ragu, rocket and grana or three cheeses with potato, pancetta and leek.

Other than pizza, there are snacks like pork ragu arancini, warming classics like minestrone soup or heartier fare like grilled shoulder of lamb with rosemary, garlic potatoes and cherry tomatoes.

To match, dig into the ice bucket loaded with Italian beers and strawberry cordial. For sweets, there are chocolate cake and brownies, as well as all that sweet creamy goodness lurking in the gelato case. The passionfruit pavlova flavour seems to be the hit, with the mandarin sorbet a close second. Be sure to grab a scoop or two on the way out.
