We might not be able to get dressed up and head to a restaurant to celebrate a birthday or anniversary for now, but Marcello Farioli, owner and head chef of Woollahra’s under-the-radar Italian restaurant I Maccheroni, believes celebrations are still essential during isolation.
“It’s important to create a nice environment, especially now that we’re spending so much time at home,” the ex-Pendolino and Otto chef tells Broadsheet.
To help upgrade your next occasion, I Maccheroni has partnered with fellow Woollahra business, flower studio Susan Avery, which is known for creating elegant and modern flower arrangements, to introduce a Feast & Florals package. It includes three I Maccheroni courses of your choice, such as panzerotti (deep-fried turnovers resembling small calzones), tortellini with burnt butter, beef cheeks with polenta, and ricotta tiramisu. Additionally you’ll get a fragrant floral arrangement by Susan Avery and a candle holder to add some mood lighting.

SIGN UP“Some people have contacted me and asked whether I could make their takeaways more special, and all I’ve been able to tell them is that I can personally deliver the food but that’s about it,” Farioli says, laughing. “So I think this idea will help make it a little more special.”
The restaurant is also doing a number of its dishes for takeaway and delivery, as well as a pack with six meals to last the whole week ($150).
The Feast & Florals package starts at $220 for two people. There’s also a two-course Mother’s Day package, which includes a bottle of rosé for $90, with the option to add a bouquet of flowers ranging from $40 to $60. All orders can be either picked up or delivered.
