The idea for the Cali Press juice bar came from co-owner Josh Johnston’s frustration with how hard it was to get an easy, quality breakfast on his daily commute through the city.
Taking over an old ice-cream shop on the corner of Hall Street and Jacques Avenue, the stylish fit-out mirrors that of its Bronte counterpart. Choose to eat -in on tall stools cozied up to the coffee bar, or one of the two outdoor wooden tables.
The team is using the larger space at its new Bondi digs to expand its offering. In addition to juices (available in small plastic or large glass bottles), it serves a range of heartier cold-pressed smoothies, a few new elixirs and tonics and food.

SIGN UPSalads inspired by the newly appointed chef and nutritionist include kale with marinated shiitake mushrooms and a Japanese style dressing and a salad of smoky coconut tofu with vermicelli noodles.
If it’s just breakfast you’re after, supplement your morning beverage with a guilt-free raw brownie or a bowl of vegan bircher muesli.
“We’ve also added two new smoothies,” says Johnston, “an early favourite being the Choc Minted – using cocoa nibs and peppermint oil.”
If you’re on the go, grab any of the menu items as a takeaway. “A lot of people come before work and set themselves up with their meals for the whole day,” says Glasson.
