It has been an iconic harbour side bar drawing tourists and locals alike for years, but now Opera Bar is offering its spectacular views to the breakfast crowd, as well as those looking for lunch and dinner.
Opening the doors for weekend breakfast since the June long weekend, they’re serving up a tight menu of bacon and biodynamic eggs on toast, granola or Danish pastries, alongside some breakfast bubbles of Innocent Bystander pink Moscato, Canella Prosecco and Laurent-Perrier Brut. But the full wine list is available in the bar should you feel like boozing on at breakfast time.
The outdoor heating is on in force for the cooler weather, so don’t bypass the bar as a sparklingly breathtaking winter breakfast spot. Bread is by Sonoma, making for excellent croque-monsieurs and coffees by Di Gabriel kick-start the day nicely next to flat and cheesy breakfast quesadillas of chorizo, egg and manchego. The menu isn’t huge, but you do get that view and it’s nice to see the space opened up for morning appreciation – so don’t let the tourists have all the fun.
