Seven To Shop: Wear Your Favourite Venues With This Sydney Hospo Merch

Our love of Sydney’s hospitality scene knows no bounds. We’re either dining out, thinking about dining out or talking to people about where and when to dine out. We all have favourites, obviously. And sometimes you want to broadcast this adoration, wherever you go.
Merch from our cafes, bars and restaurants is your golden ticket – and some of Sydney’s best have some very funky stuff.
Skittle Lane Monster tee
The decade-old specialty coffee house is a favourite among many. From its teeny beginnings in the CBD, Skittle Lane – run by Jodie Foster and Dean Wooding – has grown to five venues. The latest is a roastery, bar and concept store in Brookvale. Beyond a cuppa, you can take a BTS look at the roasting, get into cupping or shop. There are Japanese lifestyle pieces and glasses, along with merch designed by SCCO Studio (also behind branding and design at venues like Superfreak, Love, Tilly Devine and Clam Bar). The oversized Monster tee is 100 per cent cotton and made in Sydney by Pseushi. $95, online and in-venue.
Cantina OK cap
Mucho’s micro mezcal bar in the CBD is a moody Sydney treasure, known for its very friendly service, artistic scrawls across coasters, extensive mezcal list and ever-changing collaborative specials. Whack your love for that smoky liquid straight on your head with the mezcal magic cap. The washed olive cotton-twill dad cap wins with big lettering and bright red lightning embroidery, designed by local creative Elliot Shields. $49.99, online.
Ante tote bag
The Newtown listening bar couldn’t get any more industry fans. Danielle Alvarez , Trisha Greentree , O Tama Carey , Peter Gilmore , Cam Votano , Elizabeth Hewson , Mimi Wong , the list goes on. Whether you adore it for its saké (Black Market Saké’s Matt Young is one half of the team), its everything-bagel mochi or shiitake tagliatelle , this wine-red tote bag ’s for you. There are two straps: long for when you’ve stacked it full of 12-inch records, short for when the internal bottle-length pockets have saké tucked in tight. $45, online.
Ester Spirits sports tee
The good people at this Marrickville distillery know how to do things in style. The bottles are bold and the red-lit, drink-in distillery has pizzazz courtesy of oversized cigarette sculptures and retro posters. So, it’s no wonder the fire engine-red sports tee is this slick. It’s striped like old-school exercise classics, with a shorter sleeve and a bit of stretch. $40, online or in-venue.
Happyfield mug
Sydney’s OG American-style diner – from Chris Theodosi and Jesse Orleans – is adored by many for its pancakes, McLovin Muffins and cheery energy. Everything’s yellow, everything’s happy – including its merch. The sunshine-y mug with its line illustration – designed by Simon Stevens – of the Haberfield digs is ready for your morning filter, and can be run through the dishwasher. $35, online or in-venue.
Barrel One tote
Summer? Still a way off, but this Northern Beaches-born coffee and bagel stop has the right idea with its summer tote. In its 13 years of life, Barrel One’s become a local favourite for people in Brookvale, Manly, Cromer, Potts Point and Lane Cove. Marrickville’s Brooklyn Boy is on carb duty, boiling bagels ready to be stuffed full of egg and cheese, or maybe pastrami and pickles, and the team’s roasting its own beans. $35, online.
Tokyo Lamington tee
The Sydney-based lamington wizards are always doing fun stuff. Like collaborating with Continental Deli on Laming’tins (for our debut food festival Dine Out), or making matcha-spiked, mochi-topped numbers for their Newtown and Marrickville stores. Wear the sweet little cakes with the Deus Ex Machina collab – a lamington carrying a lamington. Cute! $55, online.
