Whether you’re a dog owner or simply love being around them at all times, finding a fantastic spot to eat, drink and hang with mates that also features a hefty dose of pups to pat is like finding utopia.

Year-round, winery weekenders are on the menu for refreshing breaks out of the city. Luckily for us dog-obsessed folks, plenty of NSW wineries are letting visitors bring along their pets to enjoy their open, grassy plains.

We’ve rounded up the best NSW wineries for maximum dog pats alongside some excellent plonk.

Artemis Wines

Situated between Moss Vale and Berrima in the Southern Highlands, Artemis Wines’ greatest drawcard is its expansive lawn dotted with rugs. Sure, you can set yourself up on one of the more practical wooden tables. But on a beautiful, sunny arvo, what could be better than sipping some of their delicious sav blanc while various dogs wander over for pats?

Lyrebird Ridge

This little organic winery 20 minutes outside of Kangaroo Valley is not just pet friendly, they also provide their own pups for pats. Molly the border collie and Rosie May the golden retriever love to say hi to guests. Keen to stay a while? They’ve also got boutique accommodation onsite.

Hanging Tree Wines

Hanging Tree Wines produce chardonnay, semillon, shiraz and cab sav varietals, with a cellar door housed inside an old cattle shed. The dogs in residence? Vodka and Muscat, two adorable Labradors. Feel free to bring your own pup along for a play, too.

Briar Ridge
Briar Ridge calls itself one of the most pet friendly wineries in the Hunter Valley. And given you can let your dog roam free on their grounds as long as you keep a watchful eye on them, I’d agree. You can even treat your pup to a Briar Ridge Pooch Platter, featuring gourmet doggy treats.

Oakvale Wines
Situated at the base of Brokenback Range in Pokolbin, Oakvale has been operating in some form for over 120 years. With a focus on minimal preservatives and vegan-friendly wines, the main hook for dog lovers is the expansive grounds and complimentary doggie treats for your four-legged mate.

Dryridge Estate
Grab a cheese and charcuterie board to pair with your wine tasting (which features eight wines) and admire the stunning views at this stunning Megalong Valley winery in the Blue Mountains.
Your pups are free to come along and enjoy the fresh air and grassy space – the owners’ pups, George and Angus, might even make an appearance.
