If you like your chicken “really f**kin hot”, you’re in luck. Melbourne’s Belle’s Hot Chicken has openied in Sydney, and this time, they’re here for more than two days. After a huge response to their Hotel Harry and Icebergs pop ups, co-owners Miranda Campbell and chef Morgan McGlone are investing in a 9-month residency at Barangaroo’s Wulugul Pop Up (along with Edition Coffee Roasters, Mamak and a new gin bar by The Barber Shop), which is now open until August next year.
McGlone, originally from Sydney’s south, is excited to return and prove that Belle’s deserves the hype. “It’s kind of like a homecoming,” he says. “It’s an opportunity to show Sydney on a day-to-day basis what we can do.” What that is, is chicken. Chicken so good it’s seen them expand into a second restaurant after just 15 months. “All we do is fried chicken. And if you do something every day you just get better and better,” says McGlone.
Belle’s allows you to choose a spice level ranging from “mild” to “really f**kin hot.” Of course, when it comes to heat, there’s always something hotter, and Belle’s are one-upping themselves with a spice named “Sex Panther” in mid-January.

SUBSCRIBE NOWTo keep up with the fast pace of the Barangaroo lunch rush they’ll be sticking to drumstick meat, which means everything can be cooked to order in less than 10 minutes.
Even though we’d love to see them bring their natural wine list to Sydney, there’s no alcohol served this time around. Instead, choose from a menu featuring a homemade, southern-style sweet iced tea with mint and lemon, or a cold-brew, small-batch kombucha from Heirs & Graces. Belle’s will also have a homemade cardamom-spiced lemonade inspired by the Nepalese heritage of Belle’s kitchen staff.
McGlone has hinted at plans to scope out a permanent home in Sydney after the pop-up ends, so the city could soon be sizzling on a regular basis.
Belle’s Hot Chicken will open at the south end of Barangaroo‘s lifestyle hub, Wulugul Pop Up, on The Streets of Barangaroo until August, 2016.
