Amid Sydney’s great burger explosion there were a lot of cries that it was too centralised. Western Sydney, for one, was missing out. But things have changed. After already welcoming Superior Burger, Burger Head, and food trucks like Holy Heffa and Mate Burger, the west is now home to one of the biggest names in Sydney burgers: Bar Luca’s spin-off BL Burgers.

There’s already BL Burgers in Bondi and Darlinghurst. Now, a third has opened in Parramatta. “We've been looking for something in Parramatta for over 12 months. It's such a booming area and there's a huge demand for burgers out west,” says BL Burgers’ co-owner Sarah Robbins, who grew up in the area.

“The menu will be the same here as Darlo, Bondi and [Bar] Luca. We might do a few exclusive specials and the loaded fries will be individual to each venue too,” Robbins says.

Like the other venues, the Parramatta store design is far from the diner-style that dominates a lot of new burger openings. “The feel is true to our bright and clean style. We've used Biffy (Brent Smith) again for the mural wall and have the same clean lines and timber benchtops,” says Robbins. Smith’s mural is huge and gives a few tips of the hat to the area with symbols from the Western Sydney Wanderers and the Parramatta Eels.

Robbins also hinted that, along with partner James Robbins, she’s looking to open at other locations. “We're looking at a few other suburbs, possibly something non-burger related too,” she says.
