Tied with Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish is probably the most famous vegan in the world right now. And, unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’d know the US pop star is currently in Australia touring last year’s multibillion-streaming album, Hit Me Hard and Soft.
As part of her world tour and ongoing sustainability mission, Eilish has shared a map of plant-based restaurants for fans to check out in cities all around the world – and she’s called out a bunch of solid options around Sydney, one of which her mum loved so much she visited twice while they were in town last week.
“Adopting a plant-based diet is one of the most impactful ways you can help heal our planet,” she writes. “Here are some great local plant-based options when you come to my shows.”

SIGN UPYellow, Potts Point
This Bentley Group mainstay is for the finer side of vegan dining. The six-course set menu takes all the decision-making out of it, leaving you to enjoy the sunshine-hued dining room and signature sleek service.
Miss Sina, Marrickville
The bright bakery on the corner is your pit-stop for a range of goods with German and French influences. Find classic croissants and filled doughnuts, plus franzbrötchen, a flaky, squishy German pastry that’s a cinnamon-scroll-croissant hybrid.
Soul Burger, Glebe
Big, sloppy, fast-food-style burgers are the MO at this faux-meat haunt. Grab a southern fried chicken burger – complete with crispy slaw and the secret sauce – then wash it down with a caramel shake (thickened up with coconut ice-cream).
Flyover Fritterie, Redfern
This hole-in-the-wall is a Sydney treasure – for its vibe, four-item menu and weekly specials. You want the signature pakora and a chai. And you really want a swirl of the seasonal soft serve.
La Petite Fauxmagerie, Newtown
This cheesemonger will have you heading home stocked up with plant-based takes on ricotta, butter, cheesy ravioli and more. Plus, everything’s Aussie-made.
Comeco, Newtown
The must-order here is the chewy, golden-fried mochi doughnuts. They’re made using a brown-rice sourdough starter, and some are filled – with black-sesame custard, salted caramel or raspberry custard.
Calle Ray, Newtown
This restaurant delivers pisco aplenty and a share-style menu that spans Mexico, Peru and Japan – leaning into Nikkei cuisine. Start with watermelon tuna tartare and cheese-topped corn before getting into tacos, nachos and churros for dessert
Gigi Pizzeria, Newtown
This pizza joint started out with meat on the menu, before a plant-based shake up removed all animal products in 2015. Since then, it’s solidified itself as one of the top-tier pizza joints in Sydney, and it’s popular with vegans and meat-eaters alike. Expect all the classics, plus a stellar drinks list and vegan ricotta cheesecake.
Golden Lotus, Newtown
“Veganism is magic” is lit-up in neon on the wall at this locally adored restaurant. Order confidently: it’s all excellent. Sizzling tofu goes hard, as do the veggie dumplings, duck pancakes and laksa.
Mina Maria, Newtown
Brekkie, lunch or takeaway, the menu’s right at this Euro-influenced spot. Will it be pork-style koftas with tzatziki? Potato and leek croquettes? Or a mixed platter to share? Head in with pals to make the most of it all.
Neko Neko, Newtown
Stop at this Japanese eatery for gyoza, sashimi and ramen. Yes, there’s fish on the menu for any pescatarians in the group, but it’s mostly vegan. An A-plus order? Karaage cauliflower, tempeh tofu salad and gyoza to share, before getting hot with spicy ramen.
Shift Eatery, Surry Hills
Owner James Danaskos wants it to be as easy as pie to limit your animal-product intake. He’s doing so with plant-based ice-creams, soy-powered schnitzels and hefty vegan Reubens.
Yulli’s, Surry Hills
This casual vegetarian favourite is loved for its pan-Asian bent – and it’s loved by Eilish’s mum. Fill your table with snacky small plates (like saltbush gyoza and the all-time great leek and ginger dumplings) before getting into the bigger ones – Korean fried broccolini, with its tangy chilli sauce, is a surprising hit.
Oh My Days, Glebe
The artful croissants here are doing a bang-up job of masquerading with their butter-less make-up. Airy, flaky and golden brown, they’re available plain, filled (with a choc-almond mix) or topped (with torched meringue). Beyond the pastries, you’ll find all the morning classics – plus a vegan Korean fried chicken roll.
