For our latest instalment of Street Style, we traverse the city to investigate the sneaker styles pounding the pavement.
Trainers with adventurous embellishments are out in large numbers, including styles by Gucci, Balenciaga and Valentino. And Puma Fentys, Converse Chuck Taylors, and Adidas Stan Smiths were common as usual. The ugly-sneaker movement has arrived in our city; chunkier Steve Jobs-style runners are being favoured over minimalist designs.
But while the trainer is important, for us, it was more interesting to see what the people of Sydney are wearing them with.
While people are still pairing skinny jeans with sneakers, wider pants are becoming more common.
Street Style Australia’s Myles Kalus scoured the city to understand which sneakers Sydney favours, and how people are styling them. He’s shot for Luisaviaroma and Net-A-Porter, and covered street style for fashion week in Paris, London and New York.
