Adriana Giuffrida (POMS) and Samantha Stevenson (Pared) go way back. The long-time friends teamed up in the summer of 2014 to design a range of sunglasses called Halva. A year later they released GATTO (“cat” in Italian), a retro, European-style frame with sparkle, acetate and dangly accessories. The narrow cat-eye shades sold out instantly. So sooner or later they were bound to reappear.
GATTO is back in its best-selling colours – translucent pink, black, clear and tortoise, and there are two new tonal shades: (lilac and solid white). Each pair features silver-and-gold plated sleepers embellished with Swarovski crystal briolettes on each arm, which can also be detached and worn as earrings.
Guiffida and Stevenson first became pals while working for Bleach (a holding group that encompasses Something Else and Ksubi). They went on to start their own separate labels in 2011.
Giuffida launched her nature-inspired jewelry line POMS. Stevenson and partner Edward Baker founded Pared – handmade, bold eyewear. The brand is known for its interesting collaborations with cult fashion labels such as Emma Mulholland and Ginger & Smart.
