House of Cards is an up-and-coming independent Australian clothing line by Ashiya Omundsen, who has built her label from the ground up. A house of cards, after all, can be much stronger than one might think when constructed the right way.
In this case, it began as a bedroom hobby only two short years ago. A neon green bikini for Omundsen's sister that fell apart after just three swims was a fragile start, but it eventually led to Omundsen being involved in every aspect of the design and production process.
Cheeky and playful, with a sweet, urban prairie sort of appeal, House of Cards' Spring/Summer 2012/13 collection is made up of A-line pinafore dresses that are cinched at the waist, neat button down shirts and light, diaphanous skirts in muted pastels and set off by the occasional bit of cornflower blue.
A fresh young entry into the independent Australian fashion arena, House of Cards is will be launching its Spring/Summer collection – dubbed 'Summer Days (& Summer Nights)!!' – at The Grand Social with a weeklong pop-up. The collection makes hotter months seem that much closer, with its promise of breezy summer dressing and easy separates for when we wish it would cool off a bit, conveniently forgetting how much we'd all longed for the heat a few months prior.
House of Cards pop-up shop opens today (Thursday September 13) at The Grand Social.
