In designing their latest collection, Sydney’s Becky Cooper and Bridget Yorston were inspired by, “the seductive desert landscape of Morocco.” This is Bec & Bridge’s second Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, and the packed-to-the-brim show in a mega-warehouse at Carriageworks is testament to the loyal following they have earned in recent years.
Music: Ambient soundscape with guitar strumming and the occasional thumping “ding”.
Hair: Pulled back into messy, glossy buns, low ponytails or left out with a slight wave.
Beauty: Bronzed, dewy faces, metallic nails.
Key looks: A laser-cut, leather shift embellished with small silver stars; a black one-piece bathing suit with spaghetti straps and ladder-like detailing across the chest; knee-high gladiator sandals.
Overall feel: Disco swim meets hippie commune. With an ambient, monastic-style soundscape, and models in diaphanous blue maxi dresses, metallic netting and leopard-print swimwear, this collection oscillated between the beaches and clubs of Ibiza and a Moroccan resort. Monochrome this was not. Light brown paisley and burnt orange gave way to metallic bronze and silver, taking Bec & Bridge girls from sunrise to sunset.
Spotted: Bambi Northwood-Blyth, Jacinta Campbell, and Margaret Zhang.
