Considered New Zealand label Maggie Marilyn has opened its first international boutique in Paddington’s Glenmore Road fashion hub. The brand, known for its inclusive sizing and commitment to sustainability, has crafted a beautiful retail experience not just to sell clothing, but to bring the Maggie Marilyn community together.
“Creating spaces where we can facilitate offline experiences with the Maggie Marilyn community has always been hugely important to us – whether that’s in our retail homes or at our community events,” Georgina Rising, Maggie Marilyn’s retail development manager, tells Broadsheet. She says the brand’s new Sydney store has been designed to evoke an “intimate dining room”.
Taking over a beautiful Victorian terrace in The Intersection, joining the likes of Dion Lee, Oroton and Lee Mathews in the fashion hub, the Sydney flagship has been designed by Alexandra Ponting, from AP Design House (Fella). It evokes a peaceful domestic interior, marrying Italian mid-century furnishings in solid timber and stone floors with shades of sage that feel both strong and soft. Ponting sourced exclusively vintage pieces for the store, and, like the brand, hewed to an “invest once and well” ethos.

SIGN UPMaggie Marilyn is carbon-positive, and sustainability has been a mainstay for the brand since it launched in 2016. It prioritises ethical supply-chain practices, uses traceable, organic and repurposed fabrics, and sources organic cotton from Australia’s first carbon-positive cotton farm, Good Earth Cotton in Moree.
At the new store, shoppers can pick up the brand’s limited-edition Forever capsule collection which, as the name suggests, is designed to outlast seasonal fashion trends and work hard in your wardrobe for years to come. It’s built on beautiful silk dresses, ruched button-ups and sharp jackets and coats. Maggie Marilyn’s basics collections, Somewhere and Somewhere Man, are also stocked in the new store. Staff will help shoppers find the right piece, but will also share their knowledge about sustainability and the brand’s mission.
Rising says to stay tuned – the new store will soon be hosting evening Negroni sessions, Sunday afternoon teas and “many more surprises and delights”.
