Once simply a roaming service, where one of Suit Shop’s P. Johnson-trained tailors would arrive at your home or office armed with a measuring tape, now gentlemen in need of something custom made will also have the opportunity to pay a visit to the tailors’ new sophisticated headquarters in the CBD’s Strand Arcade.

The setting is perfectly fitting for the suit makers – the Strand’s elegant cedar balustrades, carved shop fronts and marble columns call out for a smart style. The space has been designed as a dressing room of sorts, where warm tones and soft lighting pay tribute to historic hardwood flooring. Made-to-measure suits start at a very reasonable $750 and can be built from a huge variety of cloths. Suit Shop managing director Rob Blythe hopes that the broadening of the service will add to the brand’s promise of custom convenience. “The fitting-room concept store is an extension of our philosophy to make quality made-to-measure suiting convenient and accessible," he says.

Blythe sees moving into the physical realm of retail as a step forwards rather than a step back, building upon the experience of bespoke shopping.“We see the future of retail as being readily available to consumers whether it be at work, in store or from the comfort of their own home.”
