Stylish racegoers made their mark on the tracks at Royal Randwick over the weekend, kicking off the Sydney Everest Carnival with a flurry of sartorial inspiration for racing season. Pared-back chic was the unofficial theme, especially at The Peacock Lounge – the new party-powered pop-up in the Winx Stand.

Fascinators took a more minimalist approach, with sleek headbands and humble ribbons tied into perfect bows for a dash of coquette girl charm, while mega wide-brimmed hats brought the drama. Playful hemlines were hard to miss with mini bubble skirt silhouettes, layered frills and fringe details adding volume and texture to track-side fashion. Lace detailing and floral motifs, both delicate and loud, remained a popular choice.

Men’s suits were sharp in muted tones like sage and mushroom brown, as well as soft pastels like dusty rose and butter yellow. The print? Checkered, splashed across blazers (and matching trousers).

And pops of red stayed strong. We spotted ruby hues across baguette bags, ruched headbands, chunky sunglasses, shiny pumps and floral embellishments. It’s an easy styling trick to make a subtle statement without committing to full boldness, although some daring folk pulled off electric red dresses and jumpsuits with powerful ease.
