Everyone should own a white shirt. But there’s no reason it should look like everyone else’s.

The classic button-down has been reimagined this season with elongated cuffs, ruffle details at Tome and luxe accents like 24-carat bespoke buttons at Anna Quan.

Consider playing with silhouette this spring by wearing your white shirt wrapped into a tailored pant, or casually draped off one shoulder to reveal a layer underneath, like Kaliver’s flounce singlet.

To make them feel appropriate on even the most overcast day, try layering a button down under a camisole or slip dress like the slashed style from C/Meo Collective.

A white shirt makes the perfect partner for this season’s coloured trousers, such as Daniel Avakian’s blush kick flares. I also love the unexpected combination of an A-line skirt, like a structured mini from Dion Lee, worn over Acne Studios’ oversized shirt dress.
