Originally dreamed up as a passion project, Francis Egan (Frankie) travelled the globe for two years to find the best materials and manufacturers to create Frankies Shoes, which has just released its debut collection for summer – a range of peacock-bright suede driving shoes.
Egan designs all his shoes in Sydney, which are then handcrafted using some of the finest Italian suede available. And he hasn’t held back with adding a dose of Italian flair either. The result of Egan’s design and meticulous, careful construction is a simple aesthetic that holds the traditional form of the driving shoe, a form made famous by the Italian leather goods brand Tod’s, but allows the range of bold, brash colours Egan has chosen to do the talking.
Frankies Shoes are available in a selection of traditional and not so traditional colours. From Desert Camel to Cobalt Blue and everything in between, these will make your feet feel (and look) more like peacocks than feet – but that’s half the fun. There’s also a camouflage design available. If you’re not of the peacock persuasion, there are more traditional styles on offer, including classic navy blue and brown.
Looking to grow the range to more than just driving shoes, there are plenty of new styles on the horizon. For now, there are 16 men’s styles and eight women’s styles to choose from.
