In celebration of Harper’s BAZAAR Australia’s 15th birthday, 15 members of the fashion elite have each been commissioned to create bespoke artworks that will grace the magazine’s collection-worthy March cover, in stores from today (Monday February 11).

A fitting gift for a publication famed for its covers, the exclusive designs have been developed by an impressive roll-call of international and local names, including Karl Lagerfeld, Giorgio Armani, Christophe Lemaire for Hermès, Alber Elbaz for Lanvin, Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton, Christian Louboutin, Stella McCartney, Diane von Furstenberg, Carine Roitfeld and Romance Was Born.

The idea seemed simple enough to plan. “I wrote down a list of my favourite designers here and internationally and invited them to share their creativity and latest inspirations,” says Harper’s BAZAAR editor Kellie Hush, the ease of execution thanks no doubt to the influence of this iconic title on an international stage.

The result is a beautiful, memorable issue with each designer’s personal touch shining through on each individual cover. We hear Victoria Beckham’s response was the most surprising, with Hush selecting it as a testament to the pop star-come-designer blossoming into an icon of modern style. We’re lucky enough to preview illustrations by both Christian Louboutin and Louis Vuitton – but you’ll have to visit a newsstand in order to pick your favourite of the 15.
