The upscale Paddington stretch of Oxford Street is one of Sydney’s top shopping strips. Alongside established Aussie fashion designers like Lee Mathews, Scanlan Theodore and Zimmerman, you’ll find multi-brand boutiques, beloved bookshops, and furniture and homewares aplenty. Whether you’re looking to treat yourself or a loved one, or you’re just in the mood to browse, there are always new openings to explore. Here are some of the latest additions.
Lumira
This year, Aussie luxury candle and perfume maker Lumira marked its 10th birthday by opening its first bricks-and-mortar store. The Paddington boutique’s simple palette of timber and cream contrasts nicely with the brand’s signature black jar candles. Lumira’s suite of fragrances also includes room sprays, perfume oils and eau de parfum, with scents ranging from the classic Cuban Tobacco to the newer, garden-inspired Il Gardino. The store also serves as a creative space for workshops, product launches and other in-store experiences.

McIntyre Merino
If you think wool in summer sounds like a hot and itchy idea, head into McIntyre Merino and you’ll be pleasantly surprised. The Melbourne-born brand has all the elements of a year-round wardrobe, with tees, tanks, skirts, shorts and socks in addition to classic pullovers. Designed to be trans-seasonal and timeless, the pieces are colourful and bright with a light feel. Husband-and-wife founders Raquel Boedo and Ned Scholfield source their superfine merino wool from the Scholfields’ Victorian sheep farm, which has been in the family since the 1850s.
