Ellery gains momentum with every season, as the label is cemented as a luxury brand. Kym Ellery the personality is now as much a global brand as her label.

On track to hit ambitious financial targets, the price tags have risen alongside the value of her product. Who said fashion was meant to be fair?

The signature flare and architectural construction remains, but autumn/winter 2017 is a complete reinvention. It launched at Paris Fashion Week on March 7.

Inspired by the woman who is ready for anything, Ellery 2017 tells the story, in its words, of “a traditional, bourgeois woman who is on a journey of self-discovery.”

A few things are worth pulling off the runway. One, the metallic velvet purple boots, perfectly crinkled to the knee. Two, oversized resin sculptural earrings, indicative of Marni. And one of the dramatic fur coats in canary yellow or snow-fox white wouldn’t go astray this winter.

The collection also signals the revival of the power suit, daringly deconstructed. Two-piece ensembles come in burgundy, turmeric, black or check and are buttoned at the front with oversized freshwater pearls or metallic furry balls.

A tie-dye pattern has also emerged, reminiscent of Proenza Schouler. It’s on everything from skivvies to ruched dresses.

Over-exaggerated, sharp lapels peep out from crinkly leather jackets. Intricate corsetry and crisp shirting dominate, as well as latex-coated lace and ostrich feather shags.

The autumn/winter 2017 collection will be available to purchase from October.
