Last year, COS opened its first store in the Southern Hemisphere. The brand chose Melbourne, but now its Sydney’s turn. The Swedish retailer has signed a lease in the former Commonwealth Bank chamber as part of the new development at 5 Martin Place.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald’s Business Insider, the boutique will take up around 1200 square metres and will join two other yet to be named retailers. COS, which sells luxe, minimalist basics without a hefty price tag, is often touted as the sophisticated older sibling of global retailer H&M. A second H&M store (the first opening last year at the Macquarie Centre) will arrive later this year in the former Glasshouse Arcade at 150 Pitt Street.
COS stocks the same collection in every store concurrently, and each boutique around the world has a now iconic COS clothing-rack rail system that creates small rooms within the stores, keeping the space open and encouraging the customer to wonder easily.
More details to come.
