Two Italian winemakers – Sophie Conte and Caterina Carli – make some of the finest expressions of Tuscan wines. This week, their wine and their stories are coming to a Sydney wine bar.

Sydney-based wine importers Vino Cammino have a simple mission statement, they sell wine that’s made by women and won’t ruin the planet. With a focus on Italian wine, they are spotlighting two producers at Enmore Road wine bar Famelia at a wine tasting and education event.

Sophie Conte took over her family winery 10 years ago. The latest in a long line of winemakers, her high-altitude winery in the Chianti Classico region of Tuscany has a history of viticulture dating back to 1003.

Caterina Carli of Il Colle di Carli grew up alongside her vines. Growing up in Montalcino the vines she cultivates were planted in the year she was born: 1972. Her minimal-intervention Monalcino reds are some of the finest expressions of terroir in the region.

There are two sittings, at which Vino Cammino co-founders Surya Palaniappan and Josh Masters promise to share the women’s stories, tasting notes and of course sips of the finest red.
