Wanna Dance at Sydney Solstice
If you like dancing, you may want to head to the corner of Hay Street and Parker Lane in Haymarket, where you’ll find three coloured hoods covering vents with sensor lights, and music on a loop. When you step underneath and the lights swirl, the music gets louder, and the laneway becomes a dance floor.
This is Wanna Dance, a new installation from the folks behind City People and Studio Chris Fox, with music curated by Tyson Koh (Loose Joints, FBi Radio). You can choose to get shaking on your own, or watch free performances of a variety of dance styles, from K-pop to contemporary, curated by Emma Saunders. The next performances are on June17 to 19 from 6pm to 9pm.
The soundtrack starts every day with a meditation before taking you on a journey through music genres, from '70s disco and African Amapiano to recent chart-toppers and even Arabic pop.
Wanna Dance runs until June 26 as part of Sydney Solstice and starts at 3pm every day.
