Walk for WAGEC

Sun 5th May, 2024
9:00am – 12:00pm
Centennial Park
Price: $25
Round up your friends and family and get outside for a 10-kilometre charity walk supporting women at risk of domestic violence.

Redfern-based grassroots organisation Women’s and Girl’s Emergency Centre (WAGEC) works to provide accommodation, aid, social support and crisis response to 200 women and children each night who are impacted by homelessness and domestic violence.

This year, it’s annual 10-kilometre fundraising walk is back with a goal of raising $300, 000 to help deliver crucial programs including holistic trauma recovery, delivering essential material, building financial independence and supporting children.

Beginning at Centennial Park, participants can choose to run or walk the route. Take part solo, as a team with friends and family (pooling your donations) or with your workplace. Registrations open at 7am.

Warm up with Retrosweat, an 80s-inspired aerobics class. (Lycra leotard and perm not essential, but highly recommended.) Post-walk, finish the day with a hearty meal from Darlinghurst cafe Two Good supporting women affected by domestic violence. Plus, there’ll be face-painting for kids.

Of course, dogs are welcome and if you’re not in Sydney, you can still join in remotely.

Registration is $25. Children under 18 are free.
