Dream Feast at Vivid Sydney

Part of Vivid Sydney’s food program, Dream Feast is a limited-run communal dining experience from Museums of History NSW that turns archival material into an immersive night out. Across four evenings from June 2 to 5, the historic walls of The Mint will host a multi-course feast developed with the Sydney-born, New York-based dining collective Arlo Communal, known for its transportive, narrative-led approach to shared dining.

Drawing on the Caroline Simpson Library Collection – a rich archive of Australian design and domestic life – the menu traces how Australians have cooked, gathered and celebrated over more than 200 years. Dishes reference migration stories, shifting food trends and domestic rituals, translated into a contemporary culinary language that’s as thoughtful as it is flavourful.

The experience extends beyond the table. Moving-image projections and a live-mixed soundtrack by Australian-born Bengali DJ, radio host and curator Munasib evolve throughout the evening, reshaping the space and adding another layer to the storytelling. The Mint’s architecture also becomes a part of the experience, grounding each course with a distinct sense of time and place.
