The precursor to today's business power lunches, the three-martini lunch was popular in 1960s New York because advertising executives claimed it helped generate creativity (looks like there was some truth to all the booziness of Mad Men).
Swillhouse speakeasy Hubert is bringing the practice back this February, with $11 martinis from noon on Thursdays and Fridays. Choose from gin or vodka, shaken or stirred, with no olives or plenty of them. The venue is also offering a lunch menu of steaks and lobsters, alongside its regular a la carte menu.
Live bands will be performing in the Beatrix Dining Room throughout the month to provide an appropriately bluesy soundtrack to your long lunches.
Thursdays and Fridays from 12pm.
