Four of Sydney’s best bars will host an intimate guided walking tour this winter showcasing some of their finest bourbon-based cocktails.
Hosted by Cameron Pirret, award-winning former bartender for Lychee Lounge, Cobbler and Seymour’s Cocktail and Oyster Bar, and now a brand ambassador for The Exchange, Sip & Stroll will be part bourbon tasting, part educational evening and part good night out.
Under Pirret’s tutelage, guests will taste and learn about bourbon: its history and production, and the particulars of each drink served. They’ll also get to interact with some of Sydney’s best bartenders and gain a deeper appreciation of bourbon and high-end cocktail making, with tasters of brands such as Maker's Mark, Jim Beam and Basil Hayden's.
Venues include New Orleans-inspired cocktail bar Papa Gedes, Pitt Street’s secretive Door Knock Bar (tap the brass pineapple doorknocker three times to enter), the old-timey classicism of Bopp & Tone and Creole inspired newcomer Nola. Guests will be served bourbon-based cocktails at each stop and tapas-style dishes at Bopp and Tone. As well as an educational cocktail experience it doubles as a guided bar-hop of some of the city’s best.
Tours run on June 20 starting from 7pm and July 18 starting from 6pm and 6:30pm. Tickets are $60 per person and groups are limited to 12.
