Dine Out: Tabasco Dinner at The Bat & Ball Hotel

Revamped last year by a group of five hospitality mates with credentials including Doom Juice, The Sunshine Inn and Golden Gully, The Bat & Ball has all the makings of your familiar local pub – a dedicated sports screen, a pool table and Sunday roast. The gang kept most of the pub’s original warm interior and zhooshed up the menu.

For Broadsheet ’s inaugural Dine Out festival the pub will transform into a Creole tavern, with $1 oysters and Southern tunes. On the menu are Aussie pub classics with a twist – Nashville-style burgers with blueberry and fermented chilli, gumbo chicken parmis and jambalaya-inspired smoked fish lasagne – alongside true Cajun picks such as mini shellfish boil, beans and rice, and salt and pepper crocodile po’ boy. Dessert is a tabasco-spiced rum bananas foster.
