For one day a year, Sydney Open, run by Museums of History NSW, grants rare public access to some of the city’s most interesting buildings. This year, more than 55 buildings and spaces are opening their doors, including heritage sites, university halls, museums, artist studios and more.
Take a closer look at the only Australian building designed by internationally renowned architect Frank Gehry; an art-filled hotel on the site that previously housed the oldest kiln ever found in Australia, a Unesco World Heritage convict site, the origin point of nursing education in the country, and the First Nations meeting site that became a commercial wharf and later a creative studio and theatre for one of our top dance companies.
And if you want to know where to eat before, after and in between seeing the sights, we've rounded up the best spots.
