For four weeks this festive season the Sydney CBD will come to life with an array of Christmas-themed installations, activations, concerts and more.
The centrepiece of the festivities is the Martin Place Christmas tree, the tallest in New South Wales. Bedecked with 110,000 twinkling LED lights, hundreds of specially designed baubles, and 15,000 native flowers, it’s a kaleidoscopic spectacle crowned by a 3.4-metre star. Catch a light show every 15 minutes from 7pm.
A popular fixture of Christmases past, the GPO Grand Dessert Bar, returns with gelato, cakes, coffee, cold drinks and savoury treats for partygoers. You’ll find an array of food and drink options among the 14 bars and restaurants in the GPO building.
From December 5, the spectacular Lights of Christmas light projection show illuminates St Mary’s Cathedral. With choirs inside from 7:30pm, the light show runs from 8.30pm – 11pm every night. Bring a picnic or buy dinner on-site and spend an evening singing along to carols performed by community choirs and performers which kick off at 7:30pm
There will also be an entirely new Christmas precinct to add to festivities on December 14. The plaza at Green Square in Zetland will transform into a wonderland of markets, Christmas lights, music, entertainment and food options.
There will be 30 market stalls to grab gifts from, including a range of plants, jewellery, arts and crafts, as well as food trucks, a bar, kids entertainment (including Santa and Santa stockings) and a fireworks display.
