Sydney Bastille Festival 2021

Customs House Square
Loftus and Alfred streets, Gateway Plaza Forecourt, Circular Quay
Price: Free
Celebrate post-lockdown liberté when the celebration of French food, wine and art returns to Circular Quay.

The annual Bastille Festival usually lands around July, in time for France's national holiday, Bastille Day. But with Sydney's extended lockdown, that wasn't possible this year. Now the celebration of all things French is back for four days in December (just before Emily in Paris season 2 lands).

This year's event is getting a Christmas twist, with gifts for the season of giving and delicacies for your holiday dinner table.

There's also plenty of French food, from sweets such as crepes, galettes, caneles, madeleines and macarons, to the savoury including saucisson, raclette-covered potatoes, French paella and different types of fromage.

Take a Tour de France of the country's different wine regions – there'll be five wine bars around the festival area, pouring boutique wines from the likes of Bordeaux, Bourgogne and Provence, plus a dedicated bubble bar for champagne. Opt for a wine tasting package that includes a passport, priority access to jump the queue and a reusable eco-wine glass.

Entry is free.
