There’s more to tequila than just Margaritas. The iconic Mexican spirit can go in any number of directions, from sweet to spicy.
Opera Bar is trumpeting that fact for the remainder of the season with its Summer of Tequila menu, a showcase of Patrón tequila across six summer-inspired cocktails.
Patrón Silver will shine in the Simply Perfect Cucumber and Agave Gimlet with Martini Bianco and lime, and the spice-driven Watermelon Paloma that features fresh-pressed watermelon, grapefruit, lime and a hit of habanero chilli. It’s equally at home in the Quandong Margarita, an Australian natives-inspired twist on the classic cocktail that marries house-made quandong liqueur with lime, cayenne and plum bitters.
On the punchier side, barrel-aged Patrón Reposado will feature in the Reposado El Diablo, including crème de cassis, lime, ginger beer and cracked pepper. Aged for even longer, Patrón Añejo will be the hero of the Negroni-esque Añejo Rosita, featuring Campari, Martini Bianco, Martini Rosso and bitters.
If you’d rather stick to Pina Coladas, try the Frozen Agave Colada, a tequila-celebrating twist on the tropical perennial that pairs Patrón Silver with pineapple, lime and coconut. You can order classic tequila cocktails (like Margaritas) from the bar as well.
Each of the six seasonal cocktails is priced at $20, and guests can walk in or book online. While you sample the range of tequila possibilities, settle into the sweeping harbour views while enjoying diverse live music that cuts across the genres, from folk and soul to electronic and R&B.
