Sold Out: Sri Lankan Cooking Class
Sydney Instagram account Welcome Merchant, which promotes and empowers refugee-led businesses, has started bringing its grid to life of late. It started with the launch of a (so far) sell-out supper series, and now it continues with the introduction of cooking classes. First up, learn how to make Sri Lankan specialties with Chef Krish from Bavan Foods.
He'll be taking a class of 25 through cooking methods and how to balance texture and heat, culminating in a sit-down meal. Proceeds from the class will go directly towards the chef, as well as towards skill-building workshops for other refugee entrepreneurs. The class will be held in Bondi's Our Big Kitchen, which serves meals to people doing it tough.
