Sokyo After Dark at The Star Sydney
For more than 10 years, Sokyo at The Star Sydney has consistently served up some of Sydney’s best Japanese hospitality. Blending the traditions and innovative spirits of Sydney and Tokyo, the Pyrmont restaurant is known for its kaiseki and omakase-style dining, long sake list and deep reverence for fresh Australian produce.
Until the end of January, Sokyo and House of Suntory present Sokyo After Dark: an intimate, late-night experience melding Japanese fine-dining and craft spirits with the hand-mixed sounds of some of Sydney’s best DJs.
Every Friday and Saturday night until January 27, 2024, head to the Sokyo Lounge after 9pm and treat yourself to one of the bespoke Sokyo After Dark cocktails. Pick your poison: the Shogun Spirit Old Fashioned, made with washed Suntory Toki, yuzu shrub and yuzu bitters; the Tokyo Spice, a summery concoction with kyuri cucumber-infused Roku Gin, St Germain and a citrus-meets-sansho-pepper kick; or the refreshing Mizuki Martini, with Haku vodka infused with watermelon and absinth spray.
On the late-night menu you’ll find small bites including spanner crab sandos with nori mayo, prawn tempura san choy bow, and chicken karaage with yuzu kosho mayo and lime. There’s also a long list of Japanese whiskies, including crowd favourites like Suntory Toki, Tokinoka Blended and Chita Grain, as well as high-roller picks like the Suntory Millennium blend, vintage Hibiki blends, and premium single malts from Hakushu, Yamazaki and Karuizawa.
While chowing down on late-night bites and sipping your favourite cocktail or whiskey, enjoy the sounds of a rotating roster of DJs performing from inside a vintage Toki-inspired DJ booth complete with rice paper lanterns.
Bookings are open, with space for walk-ins. Guests must be aged 18 years or over to enter the bar area. The Star Practises the Responsible Service of Alcohol.
