The Shutter Island Experience
The allegedly extremely haunted Q Station in Manly will make an appropriately creepy backdrop to an immersive re-creation and screening of Martin Scorsese’s 2010 film Shutter Island. In collaboration with Beyond Cinema the film, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo, will be brought to life. Guests will be transported to Ashecliffe Hospital for the criminally insane on a desolate, windswept island off the coast of the US. Join US marshals Edward "Teddy" Daniels and Chuck Aule as they investigate the disappearance of one of the patients.
The experience will start at Circular Quay, from where guests will journey by ferry to the historic former quarantine station, which housed thousands of people with infectious diseases for more than 100 years. Guests will be greeted by the film's characters and explore some of the complex's eeriest buildings in an immersive “theatre in the wild” experience.
They'll then settle in to watch the rest of the film in the station's spooky former hospital. There will be a cash-only bar for fortifying drinks during the screening, and food packages are available for pre-order.
There are three sessions, at 3pm, 4.30pm and 6pm.
