Bridge Lane in the CBD will transform for a dazzling – and free – laneway party with food by Dan Hong and Glenlivet cocktails.

Merivale and whisky maker The Glenlivet are combining their powers for Shanghai Nights, a two-night laneway party in the CBD with live entertainment and DJs, food and cocktails.

Top chef Dan Hong (Ms G's, Mr Wong) is in charge of crafting menus for three food stalls: a dim sum stall, a "work" station and a "grill" station.

At the dim sum stall, get scallop and prawn shu mai, poached prawn wantons and wild-mushroom dumplings. The work station will be serving stir-fried Shanghai noodles with roast duck; stir-fried rice cakes with prawns, mushrooms and chilli oil; and wok-fried Shanghai noodles with shiitake mushrooms, gai lan and black pepper. And over at the grill station get barbeque chicken and lamb skewers. Skewers are $6 and all other dishes $12.

Two cocktails will be available: the Apple Highball (Glenlivet 12, Cynar, grapefruit juice, Picon and red wine reduction) and the Green Tea Highball (The Glenlivet 12, Midori, green tea, soda and maple syrup).

There are three slots each night: 5pm–7.30pm; 7.30pm–10pm; 10pm–late.
