Global design platform Semi Permanent is putting on a three-day event dedicated to restlessness. Hear how leaders from the creative and business communities think we should harness it.

As part of this year’s Vivid Ideas, Semi Permanent – known for putting on large-scale events with the world’s best designers, artists and creative icons – has programmed three days of talks, panel sessions, design showcases and installations, and networking opportunities at Carriageworks.

In its 18th year the theme is restlessness. The three-day summit will explore how restless energy can drive us to solve the seemingly insurmountable problems our world's facing.

An international roster of minds from the creative and business communities will appear on stage to discuss how they can seize their restlessness to solve the biggest political, technological, environmental and creative challenges of our time.

Keynote speakers from the creative community include graphic-design legend Aaron Draplin, whose studio Draplin Design Co has inspired graphic artists worldwide; sound-engineer and Pentagram (the world’s largest independent design consultancy) partner, Yuri Suzuki; architect and frequent Virgil Abloh collaborator, Oana Stanescu; Chaedria LaBouvier, curator of the Jean-Michel Basquiat exhibition at The Guggenheim in New York; and architect Xavier De Kestelier, who's interested in designing long-term habitats – in space.

Neuroscientist Joel Pearson and artist Jonathan Zawada will dive into your subconscious to unlock the creativity you never knew you had; future-forward, UK-based design publication It’s Nice That will investigate the current state of the media industry; and you can learn tangible lessons on how your creative work can be more inclusive for those with disabilities.

For the business minded, there are the Future State panels. On day one, the discussion will look at sustainability as a business imperative in our ever-changing world.

Tickets go on sale on Thursday January 30.
