Access three major exhibitions being held this summer as part of this year’s Sydney International Art Series with a single ticket.

Every summer, the Sydney International Art Series brings some of the world’s most renowned artists to Sydney – from Picasso to Pipilotti Rist. This year, three extraordinary artists take centrestage over the warmer months: legendary Belgian surrealist Magritte, contemporary Ethiopian-American painter Julie Mehretu and groundbreaking Chinese artist Cao Fei.

With an Art Pass, you can access all three exhibitions across the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia and the Art Gallery of New South Wales for the combined price of $83 for adults, $73 concession, $30 for youth (ages 12 to 17) and free for children.

At the MCA, experience the monumental works of Julie Mehretu – known globally for her large-scale, abstract paintings made from layer upon layer of ink and paint. Exclusive to Sydney, Julie Mehretu: A Transcore of the Radical Imaginatory (on until April 27) is the first exhibition dedicated to Mehretu in Australia and the Asia-Pacific.

At Naala Nura, the Art Gallery of NSW’s south building, visit Australia’s first retrospective of the celebrated surrealist René Magritte – whose paintings of clouds, pipes, apples and hats are some of the most recognisable motifs of twentieth-century art. Magritte (on until February 9) features many pieces never seen before in Australia, from early explorations to commercial works and his 1960s swan song.

Over at Naala Badu, the AGNSW’s north building, Cao Fei: My City Is Yours (on until April 13) is the largest exhibition of the Chinese artist’s work ever seen in Australia – including two brand-new commissions. Recently voted one of the most influential artists in the world, the Beijing-based Fei has documented China’s rapid urbanisation and digital revolutions through film, photography and large-scale installations.

With both galleries located close to major train stations and public transport, it’s easy to visit all three exhibitions in one day. Secure your Art Pass today.
