SCCI Fashion Hub 2019
The Sherman Centre for Culture and Ideas (SSCI) is a series run by the Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation that presents two programs a year: one based around fashion, and another around art. This year's fashion program will bring in more than 50 world-leading fashion influencers from Australia, the Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Europe. The speakers will explore how the past, present and future have shaped fashion across the world, and how fashion can be a form of cultural expression.
More than 40 seminars, workshops, films and children’s programs will take place across multiple venues in Sydney to educate about and offer insight into the revolutionary and rapidly evolving fashion industry.
Five international speakers will headline, including Angelica Cheung, editor-in-chief at Vogue China, who’s played an integral role in China’s fashion industry; Fanny Moizant, co-founder and president of Vestiaire Collective, a platform for buying and selling pre-owned items; and William A Ewing, a writer and curator.
Deep Dive forums will explore the role of the producer and consumer in contemporary and historic fashion, and there will be a discussion about fashion publishing, accommodating consumer demands and the ethics of fashion.
Other talks will delve into fashion writing, how Vogue has changed to adapt to the 21st century and the clothing of Mahatma Gandhi.
