Chatswood Nights: Roaming Gnomes
Chatswood’s CBD is now home to some gnomes – at least temporarily.
Chatswood Nights brings together some gems of the lower north shore suburb’s food, entertainment, culture, arts and shopping scene for 23 evenings.
Find a 3D animated light show – following a gnome who escapes from his owner’s garden to explore the outside world – projected onto the facade of the Concourse cultural centre. It’s been created by Limelight, a 3D projection-mapping arts collective based in Hungary, in collaboration with Ukrainian animator and refugee Svetlana Reinish.
Twelve giant inflatable gnomes will light up popular public spaces and retail centres around the suburb 24 hours a day. Each one has its own playful personality and theme, from sporty to business-minded, K-pop to cosmic. Hunt them down for a photo and you could win a prize, with $20,000 worth of goodies being given away as part of the Roaming Gnomes Competition. More photos means more entries.
You can also follow an international food trail around the suburb, through different countries and cuisines including Malaysian, Thai, Korean, Indian, European and American. Plus, there’ll be live world music every Friday as part of the Chatswood Live at Night program.
