The Art Gallery of New South Wales with Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras presents a night of art, performance and storytelling this February.

On the night of February 26, the Art Gallery of New South Wales is set to become a vibrant hub of LGBTQIA+ culture for a very special edition of Queer Art After Hours 2025. Co-produced with the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, the annual event showcases the diversity and creativity of the queer community through a dynamic program of art, performance and storytelling.

Spanning both the Naala Nura (south) and Naala Badu (north) buildings, this year’s Queer Art After Hours promises a kaleidoscope of experiences co-created with key community members.

Performances include an aural history of house by Nefertiti LaNegra, the self-described “Serena Williams of drag”; a “sinner’s service for the people”, featuring poetry, song and dance, with artists Tommy Misa and Fetu Taku; and a celebration of ballroom culture and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTSB+ excellence by the Indigenous All Stahz.

You can also take part in a drawing session over cocktails with Drag Race Down Under stars Etcetera Etcetera and Nikita Iman, create dreamy collages under the guidance of artist Nkosi Ndlovu, channel your sexual energy through dance in Basjia’s Sensuality workshop, or meditate with psychotherapist and healer Faith Agugu.

DJ sets throughout the night will pay homage to the Black diaspora, with acts like JANE, baschoe, Claddy and Queer Art After Hours 2025 co-creator Ayebatonye dropping everything from Afro rhythms to house and Jersey club.

Admission is free, but bookings are essential. Find out more and browse the full program online.
