Explore behind the scenes of Byron Bay’s pioneering gin distillery, plus a tasting visit to Stone and Wood Brewery and lunch at Harvest Newrybar.

Australia’s craft gin movement is booming, and Cape Byron Distillery is right at the forefront. Rather than just drink the stuff, it’s worth finding out how it’s actually made.

In this day-long tour available on RedBalloon, you’ll be chauffeured in a luxury vehicle from pickup points in either Byron Bay or Tweed, then taken to the picturesque, rainforest-situated distillery for a behind-the-scenes tour and handcrafted spirit tasting – plus morning tea and coffee and a fresh gin and tonic. There you’ll meet the makers of popular Brookie’s Gin (crafted with native rainforest botanicals) and the macadamia and wattleseed liqueur Mac, both proudly showcasing Aussie ingredients.

Then it’s on to lunch at Harvest Newrybar, where the region’s bountiful (and sustainable) local produce will take a starring role. That’s followed by an exploratory tasting paddle at Byron’s industry-leading Stone and Wood Brewery, where you’ll sample favourites like Cloud Catcher Pale Ale and their flagship brew Pacific Ale.

Spanning seven hours, the experience is available for groups of two or four, with a maximum of eight guests per tour. That means you’ll get an intimate, hands-on look at the region’s craft scene, guided by some of the top distillers and brewers in the game.

From 9am to 4pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
