Peroni Festival at Coogee Bay Hotel and Cruise Bar in Circular Quay
The sun is setting earlier and earlier, but two Sydney bars are holding onto summer – and a few icy beers – for a couple more weeks.
For the month of March, an Amalfi Coast-inspired festival of food, fashion and design will pop up at the Coogee Bay Hotel and Cruise Bar in Circular Quay in partnership with the classic Italian beer brand Peroni.
Peroni is bringing the concept of la passeggiata to Sydney. Derived from the Italian word for walking, la passeggiata – “the evening stroll” – is a ritual in which friends and neighbours socialise on the street before sharing aperitivi or a meal.
There’ll be food and drink specials all month at both venues, with lighter, bubbly versions of classic Italian cocktails, such as the Peroni Alfresco, Peroni Negroni and Peroni Spritz ($15 each); $10 pints; and bottles of Peroni for $10.
At Coogee Bay Hotel, the sun-drenched beach bar will get a makeover courtesy of Mikey Nolan and Toby Jones of Sydney beachwear label Double Rainbouu. The duo will fill the sprawling, open space with large-scale Mediterranean-inspired prints in azure and white, evoking the sea and sand of the Amalfi Coast.
But if you can’t make it out to Coogee, soak up Opera House views at Cruise Bar in Circular Quay with a special menu of shareable Mediterranean snacks prepared with native Australian ingredients.
