Opera for One
Opera Australia’s Opera For One program is for people who like the opera but don’t have anyone to go with.
It’s a scenario the internationally renowned company says is common, so the program brings together opera fans and throws in complimentary snacks and booze before the show, plus a chat with a member of the creative team and a 10 per cent discount on the ticket.
Opera For One ticket holders meet in the Northern Foyer before the show, have a bite to eat and hear behind-the-scenes stories from the chosen team member. They then sit together during the show, meaning no awkward half-time scrolling through smart phones, because they’ve got company.
The program next runs on Thursday July 18 with Whiteley from 6.30pm. Then, on Tuesday July 23, its Anna Bolena from 6.30pm, followed by Madama Buttefly on Monday July 29 from 6.30pm and The Marriage of Figaro on Friday October 25 from 6pm. Shows start at 7.30pm.
Ticket prices are reduced by 10 per cent and include complimentary pre-show snacks and drinks, and a meet-and-greet. More information here.
