Encounter Sydney at Sydney Opera House
Young dancers from Western Sydney are taking over the Opera House’s sprawling steps for a limited time, with the iconic sails and Sydney Harbour as their backdrop.
Having premiered at Sydney Festival in 2020, this contemporary hybrid of dance, music and spoken word is an uplifting take on the local community. Dancers groove along to a soundtrack by Western Sydney Youth Orchestra that celebrates the next generation and the region's unrelenting spirit.
The performance is part of the Opera House’s Unwrapped program, which supports independent artists and new, experimental work. It’s been directed by choreographer, dancer and curator Emma Sanders, working alongside Form Dance Projects and other Australian artists.
The free performances run daily from May 18 to 21, starting at 4.30pm.
